We've been hard at work!

Webapp version, initially launched using GPT-2 before moving to using OpenAI's GPT-3 API for the Griffin and Dragon models, retrained versions of Curie and Davinci, during the Summer of 2020. Used to be the go to service for pretty much everyone but the people with the thickest tinfoil hats. Had a funny history of updates ranging from inconvenient—bad UI scaling causing interface wrapping, "hanging context" between stories, and undo targeting the wrong action—to pointless—AID TCG, score mode, judgebot—and the incredibly broken, such as a system for tipping other users based on their posts... that didn't check for negative values. Cue shenanigans.

In spite of Latitude's management, AI Dungeon showed that you don't need a good product to have a monopoly, just a lack of competition. There were some attempts, but nothing manifested. Eventually, as AID's investor money began to run thin, Latitude decided it was necessary to implement the energy system, restricting the amount of actions users could make releasing subscription tiers; Griffin remained free, with a $5 subscription for unlimited Griffin, limited Dragon and unlimited Griffin for $10, and unlimited Dragon for $30. Also announced were scales, your usual gacha premium currency. The changes were unpopular, but there wasn't anything on AID's level available, so things continued on as normal.

So what's the deal with AI Dungeon? For some reason, subject to much speculation among users, AI Dungeon's moderation started cracking down on unsafe content. Thus began the Filtergeddeon. Between the nonfunctional safety filters, the reveal that HUMAN moderators were reading YOUR smut, and the general lack of communication—or outright lying—on Latitude's part, AI Dungeon went from the core of the general to being either a laughingstock or tragedy. Regardless, the thread moved on to other services.

That leaves AI Dungeon now, generally ignored by the thread. At some point they cut ties with OpenAI to use AI21's Jurassic model, and it's... mediocre. They've walked backed on their stance and the filters, and introduced some new features like image generation, but the taste left in everyanon's mouth means they've been treated with suspicion since. The most it gets posted in the thread is the occasional broken change log.

Voyage

Latitude+. Subscription service including AI Dungeon and some other AI showcases; loom, party games, and image generation. Appears to have replaced the previous subscription tiers for AID, with grandfathered platinum subscribers, if they exist, receiving some additional benefits.

Steam Release

Releases in July of 2022. Supposedly a single purchase for ad-free use—no mention of non-griffin models on the steam page. Potentially just a port of the webapp with an alternate pricing schema; Steam's own recently added subscription service might mean an additional subscription for access to other (larger) models is necessary. Apparently releasing alongside the addition of Ads to regular AID.
